We had a great group of nine participants at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park last Saturday for the SCDA1.com Club Racing Experience (CRE). Our drivers varied from young novice to more mature previously licensed racer. Most got signed off on their novice license; only a couple need more track time, and they can get there soon!

Big thanks to Chief Instructor Pete Morrison in the classroom and on-track instructors Sal Baisley and James Ray racing with the novices, providing lead/follow guidance, racking up side-by-side before taking green flags, racing wheel-to-wheel into a crowded turn 1, passing in corners everywhere on track, and helping create realistic race conditions. One of the great opportunities including a golf-cart expedited “track walk.” For anybody interested, we have one more CRE scheduled this year, it September 12-13 at Palmer Motorsports Park.

It’s go-time for New England Region SCCA’s “Midnight Madness” at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park. We will have a long day of racing, half daytime and half nighttime. Some drivers ventured out to practice last night under the lights. It should be a fun day, come on down to compete, crew or volunteer! We can always use more help operating the event.
