Detective Andy Henchesmoore received this colorful and heartfelt thank you note from family friend Nora Pares, 9, a student at Osceola Elementary School. During and after Hurricane Irma Detective Henchesmoore was assigned to CCSO's Immokalee District and helped with the "whole hurricane thing" :) He said receiving Nora's note made his day.

“Had a lady come into the store the Thursday before the hurricane hit. She came up to me. She was crying, telling me she desperately needed a gas can. I told her we were sold out of all gas cans and we didn’t know when we would be getting any in. She was begging me for any type. New, used, whatever. Said her husband had medical equipment he needed to keep power to. She needed a gas can to keep her generator running. I promised her I would have a can for her the next day. So before we evacuated on Friday, I took my personal gas can to the store. Had a coworker (thank you Sherri) call her and she came and picked it up. Today she came in to return my can. She was still crying. She thanked me, gave me a hug and said God bless you. As she was leaving, she said I left you a note taped to the can. This is what I found. I’m going to try and return the money to her. If she refused to take it, then I’ll donate to a charity. “ Ace Hardware

We do want to wish you love, prayers, and safety as we conquer Hurricane Irma together. We will all prevail. We always do.

Personally, I appreciate all of our Facebook family being cheerleaders for us from near or far.

Remember to respect other's decisions when it comes to their hurricane preparedness plans. We all are called to do what is in our hearts. For some that means pulling their family to safety through evacuation. Others, want to be home and ready for "all hands on deck" in the help efforts. God gives us the instinct to protect our family and others in the best way we each can.
