This year has been one of the most challenging years of my healing journey outside of being actively in crisis.

The news cycle, court rulings, learning about a cousins experience with CSA and our family history of in**st ripped away any part of my brain trying to protect me by trying to believe it was a movie I had watched instead of a horrific reality that I lived through for a decade.

This year I was also the most vocal I had ever been about raising awareness, educating, and sharing my own story.

2026 has been full of pain, memories resurfacing, healing, community, beauty, joy, and change. I hope that sharing my story and this post helps other survivors feel less alone and helps them on their own healing journey.

Not every survivor is in the position to be safe enough to share their story.

Not every survivor can share their story without fear of it impacting their work.

Not every survivor is able to share their story because this is still a very censored and taboo subject in our society.

And no survivors owe their story to anyone.

While sharing my story isn’t always easy I am in a position where my career isn’t at risk by speaking out, I am not in contact with any of my family that wants me to stay quiet, and I have done enough healing work on my journey that sharing my story is possible now, this absolutely has not been the case for most of my journey.

If sharing my story helps one survivor it is worth it.

Before this year I was feeling super strong in my healing. I had not had flashbacks and memories surface for years. With everything that was going on in the world and in my own life this year required my healing to go deeper.

I had to face a lot of truths that were not comfortable. I had to take a step back from creating and building my businesses and focus on my healing.

I am so grateful for all the work I had done prior to this year because I really was leaning hard into all of the skills I learned and tools I have.

Our breath is one of the greatest tools we have to help us heal. I have done more Breathwork in 2026 than I have ever done

This year has been absolutely insane for survivors of sexual trauma. From the disastrous handling of the Epstein files, the predators being protected, survivors being doxed, the r*pe academy, just to name a few 2026 has been triggering for survivors to say the least.

So please take a moment to give yourself credit for all the healing work you have been doing and the progress you have made.

Healing from childhood sexual abuse and sexual assault has been anything but linear but these are some of the things that have really made a difference for me. I hope they can help you too ✨

Sexual trauma doesn’t live in your understanding of it. It lives in your body. In the relationship between you and your body. The relationship that the trauma impacted first.

And until that relationship is part of the healing, until your body is actually in the room, the understanding stays exactly where it is. In your mind. Waiting to be embodied and integrated.

That is the plateau. It’s not a failure of effort or commitment or readiness. The body has just not been included in your healing.

When the body comes in, something shifts. Not dramatically. Not all at once. But the understanding you have been carrying starts to land in your body. In your chest. Your shoulders. Your breath. Your choices. The way you wake up in the morning. The way you move through a room.

The knowing becomes feeling. The understanding becomes a lived embodied experience.

If you are on that plateau right now, if you have done the work and are waiting for it to land. I want you to know that the gap between where you are and where you want to be is not as wide as it feels. It just runs through somewhere you haven’t been yet.

Your body has been waiting. And it is not too late.

This is exactly why I created the embodied healing workbook. It helps you include your body in your healing so that all the work you have done finally lands and you go from healing to healed.

Comment Embody below and I will send you the link to the workbook.

Here’s what I’d go back and say to myself:

🤍 The dissociation that lifted did its job perfectly. It kept you alive in a body you couldn’t afford to be inside yet. The fact that you can feel it now — in a body that has grown, with resources that child didn’t have — is not a collapse. It’s timing.

🤍 Your memories do not have to be complete, linear, or verifiable to be real. Fragments are how trauma is actually stored. The body remembering before the mind does is not evidence against you. It’s how the system works.

🤍 The voice telling you “maybe I’m making this up” is not memory. It’s the shame that was installed alongside the abuse to keep you quiet — sometimes by someone who needed your silence, sometimes by a culture that couldn’t hold you. It has one job. You are allowed to stop handing it the microphone.

🤍 The little girl this happened to is not who you are now. You are the woman she has been waiting for her whole life. She does not need you to remember every detail. She needs you to believe her. That is the only thing she has ever needed.

🤍 This is not a breakdown. This is the door. You cannot heal what you couldn’t feel. The fact that you can feel it now — as horrifying as it is — is the beginning, not the end. You are not breaking. You are arriving.

I’m not saying this to be harsh. I’m saying it because I wish someone had told me sooner.

For more honest truth, follow Ali Betts . We’re doing it differently over here.
