I’ve actually never heard of this song before, but it has become one of my favorite Chinese children songs to teach the kids. As always, I enjoyed listening to them singing. They also loved the fall-themed stencils that I prepared for them to create their own artwork! 🍁

Prizes for anyone who can guess what they were singing! 😜

【Four Season Tree】

Today’s topic is four seasons (songs in comments) and kids made four-season trees. They all turned out beautifully!

We also talked about Taiwan’s National Day (on October 10th) and watched videos about how overseas Chinese celebrate this day - going to flag-rising ceremony and waving flags in the parade! (Kids all said ”eating and feasting” when I asked them how to celebrate… guess I taught them well 😂😂😂)

【星期歌】(Week Song)

The weekdays and months in Chinese are very easy to learn - they are just numbers and add “week” in the front or add “month” after the numbers. For example, Monday is 星期一, Tuesday is 星期二, Wednesday is 星期三, and so on.

For these kids, they always try to count (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday…) in English and determine which number it is, in order to say the right Chinese words. It is always fun to watch them learn.

…and more fun to watch them dance along the song!

【Jade Rabbit on the Moon】

Happy Moon Festival! This is a beautiful craft to make because the tissue paper pieces made the moon look so real. Also, the kids were really excited when I presented them the glow-in-the-dark stars!

So glad to see everyone enjoying making this and learning about Moon Festival. Don’t forget to look at the sky to appreciate the bright full moon!

【靜夜思】（Thinking On a Quite Night)

In the spirit of Moom Festival, the kids learned the most popular Chinese poem and it’s about the moon!

This video was the first take and I’m so proud of them!

【Playdoh Mooncake】

Next week is Mid-Autumn Festival, or Moon Festival, 中秋節！

The kids learned about the story of Chang-er and Hou-yi, and they used playdoh to make pretty mooncakes 🥮

【Buddha paper craft】

May 8th was Buddha’s birthday and I decided to show the kids a video about Buddha and teach them to make a Buddha craft. I was pleasantly surprised by how well their crafts turned out!

Kids learned to say “Dear Mom, thank you. I love you!” in Chinese and tried to write them in Chinese. As always, it’s so fun to listen to them say and sing in Chinese! 💕
