Our teams cover DuPage, Cook & Will counties, grades 6-8/9 (Div. B-middle school) and 8/9-12 (Div. C-high school). In Kane/Kendall & interested? Message us!!

The Fox Homeschoolers Science Olympiad team covers grades 5-8/9 (Division B - middle school) and 8/9-12 (Division C - high school). Our students have come from DuPage, Cook and Will counties with some from Kendall and Kane. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE GIFTED IN SCIENCE TO JOIN US!!! But you DO need to ENJOY science in some way and want to learn more about one or more topics that you'd compete in. The to

pics are published at the beginning of the traditional school year. Do you like some aspect of science? Because then it's likely covered in one of the events. We participate in 1-3 practice competitions that do not advance our team in any way. These Invitationals give students necessary feedback about how they’re doing before Regionals by exposing them to some of the challenges that will be at the Regional event. They can still win medals at the Invitationals; but some kids go specifically to test their knowledge level on a written test event; or ask questions about their work if they don't have a physical item completed. Invitationals happen in December, January and February--sometimes in WI or IN. Regionals happen in the early spring (late Feb/early March) and is one day, all day on a Saturday. Regionals dictate whether the team advances to State competition. State competition happens in mid-April and is usually held at the University of IL at Urbana-Champaign. The bulk of the preparation is done with your teammate(s) scheduled at your mutual convenience. Each event allows teams of 2-3 (rarely 4) teammates. The group meets less frequently. Some events are a paper test of knowledge (almost always with an allowed reference sheet), others are problem-solving based and still others include the building of physical things that have to perform or withstand different stated goals. Our first info sessions are coming up this week and there will be more throughout the summer. Check our Events page. If you are In Kendall or Kane county—we wouldlove to have a team for those counties! Talk It up! A team requires a minimum of 6 students.
