What the heck is a lichen 🤔? It’s actually two organisms in one! Lichen consists of fungus and algae. They live in a mutually beneficial symbiotic partnership 👯‍♀️!

The fungi provides habitat and structure for the algae to live on, and the algae provide food for the fungi through photosynthesis 🌿

Lichen absorbs pollutants in the air thus giving us clean and fresh air to breathe! So take a nice deep breath if fresh air next time you’re hanging out with lichen!
