College of Veterinary Medicine 🐾🩺
In April of 2026, MSU broke ground on a brand-new Veterinary Sciences building on the University West Farm, a massive 88,000+ square foot facility backed by in-state funding. The one-story building will feature classrooms, labs, offices, and collaborative spaces to support students in Veterinary Technology and Pre-Veterinary Medicine, with construction expected to wrap up in 2 years.
This is more than a building, it’s a foundation for the future of veterinary medicine! Murray State is already home to Kentucky's largest pre-vet enrollment and one of only three AVMA-fully accredited vet tech programs in the state. Now with a College of Veterinary Medicine on the horizon offering a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, MSU is poised to shape the next generation of veterinarians and drive workforce growth across the region and Commonwealth.

It is with great sadness that we report the passing of Mr. OL Robertson.
OL served as instructor in our Animal and Equine Science Department from 2001-2017 and also served as the chair of the department. OL always went above and beyond to serve our students and was instrumental in reviving the swine operation. OL is also our farm manager, Jason Robertson’s father. Please keep Jason and his family in your prayers. OL will certainly be missed!!

Doran Arboretum Dedication 🌳✨
In September 2023, Murray State University proudly dedicated the Doran Arboretum at Murray State University after the Doran Foundation, Inc. made a $500,000 gift commitment to establish the Doran Arboretum Fund for Excellence. Murray State President Dr. Bob Jackson recognized the naming in honor of the Doran Family’s new gift as well as their long history of support for the University, with the approval of the Board of Regents.
The Doran Family and the Doran Foundation, Inc. have invested over $1.5 million in total support to Murray State over the years. The naming also honors the legacy of Ms. Mabel Pullen (1899-1995), a long-time farmer and agriculture educator, who donated her 44-acre farm to the Murray State University Foundation for educational purposes, making the Arboretum possible. As Harold Doran, President of the Doran Foundation noted, the Dorans were friends, neighbors, and bankers with Ms. Pullen going back three generations, making this dedication a deeply personal and meaningful tribute.
