Happy National Autism Awareness Day 2026.

As a month that is very dear to my personal life, I urge my followers to not only care about this today, but instead to expand your knowledge EVERY DAY. The purpose of a specific day is to bring awareness, but understanding and acceptance cannot be reached if you do not put in the effort to research and learn.

In honor of today & all of this month (and truly just every single day), here are some facts and information that may not be common knowledge:

▫️1 in 31 children are diagnosed ASD
▫️Boys are 3 to 4 times as likely to be diagnosed (as they present differently than girls)
▫️Adults can be diagnosed. With today’s knowledge, more and more adults are realizing that they have gone undiagnosed over the years and are being diagnosed now.
▫️Asperger’s Syndrome is NO LONGER a diagnosis
▫️DSM -V states diagnosis’ can be as Level 1, Level 2, or Level 3.
▫️Levels are not meant to be linear but instead a range that can go up, down, left, and right. A child can fluctuate between levels. A level is not permanent.
▫️Autism can impact social skills, communication skills executive functioning skills, daily living skills, fine motor, sensory processing, academics, and more.
▫️Autism can (and often does), act comorbid with other diagnoses such as ADHD, Anxiety, Sleep Issues, Epilepsy,& GI issues.
▫️ Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) is a profile of Autism that is a central nervous system deficit.
▫️There is NO scientific evidence on what causes Autism.
▫️Autism is not something that can or needs to be “cured”.

🏳️ 2026 Tennessee State Testing is Upon Us!

◾️The state testing windows are as follows: TCap 3rd-8th from April 13-May 6, 2nd Grade Practice TCap from April 13-May 1, & ACT (which has three rounds) from March 10-April 17.
◾️These dates are not district specific, so definitely pay attention to your specific district’s dates!
◾️ A.C.C.E.S.S. will be offering 2nd grade groups, 3rd grade groups, and individual test prep sessions. Stay tuned for more information‼️
