💗MARION COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION – BREAST CANCER AWARENESS WEEK 💗

At Marion County Adult Education, our staff and students proudly wore PINK in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Week! 💕 Wearing pink was more than a show of support—it was a reminder of the importance of awareness, early detection, prevention, and standing together in the fight against cancer.

We were honored to welcome inspiring survivors of breast cancer,Wanda Leggett, and cervical cancer, Crystal Fredrick, as our guest speakers. They shared their personal experiences and valuable information about prevention practices, treatment options following a diagnosis, and the importance of listening to our bodies and recognizing changes that may need medical attention.

💗 Important reminders from our awareness discussion:

🎀 Pay attention to your body and recognize changes or warning signs.
🎀 Stay informed about recommended screenings and prevention practices.
🎀 Talk with your healthcare provider about concerns and available treatment options.
🎀 Build a strong support system and never be afraid to ask for help.
🎀 Be a source of encouragement, compassion, and support for others facing a cancer diagnosis.

A cancer journey can be challenging, but no one should have to face it alone. The courage and stories shared by our guest speakers reminded us of the power of education, early detection, support, and hope. We are grateful to our survivors for sharing their voices and helping our students and staff become more informed and compassionate members of our community. 💗

🎓💜💚 MARION COUNTY ADULT EDUCATION | BUILDING PATHWAYS TO SUCCESS!💚💜🎓

Marion County Adult Education’s College and Career Navigator, Crystal Dawn Johnson, had the opportunity to attend the Florence-Darlington Technical College (FDTC) Principals and Counselors Breakfast, hosted by the Director of Admissions.

🌟 Today’s Theme was “Real World Ready: Building Stronger Pathways from K–12 to the Workforce”

The event brought together education professionals across the P*e Dee area to highlight the importance of creating strong educational pathways that connect students to higher education, career opportunities, and workforce success.

📚 Highlights from the Agenda Included:

🔹 Insights from the Dean of Enrollment
🔹 Perspectives from the Vice President of Student Affairs
🔹 Admissions guidance from a Senior Admissions Counselor
🔹 Academic insights from the various Department Chairs of Academic Experience
🔹 A closing presentation from FDTC’s Student Admissions Diplomat Team, who shared their experiences as students at the college.
