Looking forward to performing multiple pieces for this workshop and hearing all the other groups. Such a cool and fun topic to explore Bay Area composers.
Harmonia California players and friends; the Hygge Quartet and the Z Quartet - are participating in a festival of Bay Area Composers at San Francisco State University.
The Hygge Quartet will be performing a quartet by Darius Milhaud, written in 1940 when he was teaching at Mills College. They're also doing two pieces by Ernest Bloch, who taught alternate semesters at the University of California and the San Francisco Conservatory. The Z Quartet is playing Lou Harrisons string quartet. Click on the QR code for the festival program.
Members of both quartets are reading student compositions at a Thursday afternoon workshop. The whole festival is free at San Francisco State....come hear what goes into writing the music for an opera, or what it takes to stream music, live on YouTube for 200+ episodes. Hear what SFSU faculty and students are working on.
