Mountain View Community,
Over the past several months, we’ve heard from community members about safety concerns involving e-bike, motorized scooter, and bicycle riders in Mountain View. Our top priority is keeping everyone safe — whether you’re on two wheels, four, or on foot.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing important information about e-bike safety, speed limits, equipment requirements, and road rules. Our goal is to help riders and their families understand how to stay safe and comply with the law.

Our department, which includes Patrol Officers and the School Resource Officer, will continue to discuss safe riding habits and the requirements for commuting around town with students, staff, and parents.

Education and awareness come first, because safety starts with understanding. Working together, we can ensure our roads are safe for everyone.

Behind every thriving school district is the people who pour their hearts into it, year after year. Last night, the Board of Trustees was proud to celebrate our staff members' years of service and retirements with the warmth and gratitude they so deserve.

Please join us in recognizing these dedicated individuals (see the full list here: http://mvw.sd/MwjVx) for their lasting impact on our students and families.

The Class of 2026 celebrated at Panther-Palooza, the eighth grade dance, on May 29. True to the festival theme, our kiddos danced, made crafts, glammed up and played lawn games. The food was delicious and the vibe was positive!

A huge thank you to the Crittenden PTA for planning and hosting the evening! The kids loved it!

What does a year of hard work, dedication, growth and community look like in numbers? It looks like this!

The success of a school district takes teachers who go above and beyond, families who stay engaged, staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes and a community that believes in the power of public education.

The milestones and recognitions you'll see in this video are a direct reflection of the collective effort that defines who we are as a district. We're honored to share these wins with you!

When Ms. Lopes' Art History class at Crittenden was handed a well-worn (but still functional) cart and asked to give it some fresh paint, one Panther had a vision—and recruited two classmates to help bring it to life.

Working together after their regular classwork, this talented trio produced a beautiful work of art, inspired by Monet's iconic Water Lilies.

The cart is now in perfect shape to welcome back the ELA novels returning from classrooms across Crittenden!

The Board of Trustees was happy to recognize teacher Shaye Dillon and the students of Crittenden Middle School’s Mock Trial Team at the meeting this evening. 💙 💛 🐈‍⬛

In its very first season, this remarkable team exceeded all expectations, advancing to the California Mock Trial Junior Division Finals at UCLA—a testament to the students’ hard work, dedication, and teamwork. At UCLA, they won a verdict in round one and three individual awards—two Outstanding Witnesses, and one for Outstanding Defense Attorney.

We are delighted to welcome them this evening and celebrate their success.

This summer, our campus will undergo several important infrastructure improvements to increase school safety and efficiency, as well as create cooler, nature-based areas for student learning and play.

Roofing Upgrades: New roofs will replace aging materials with lighter-colored surfaces that improve campus heating and cooling efficiency.

Outdoor Learning Project: Crittenden will get a new outdoor learning area that includes shaded seating, colorful play spaces, outdoor classrooms, gardens and native plants—supporting hands-on learning, student well-being and environmental stewardship. This work is part of MVWSD’s multi-year effort to create sustainable, green spaces for learning and play, shaped by extensive community input over the past three years.

Bottle Fillers: New water bottle filling stations will be installed on campus, providing students and staff with convenient access to fresh drinking water throughout the school day.

Timeline: June 6-August 11, 2026

What to Expect:
The school field and track will remain open this summer, but areas under and near construction will be closed. Please follow all fencing, cones, and signage for your safety. Construction will typically happen during the weekdays, but it is possible that work will continue on the weekends. Expect some noise and truck traffic. We will work to minimize disruptions to the neighborhood. Thank you for your patience as we improve the campuses for the community.

Student and staff areas will be completed upon return. There may still be some residual cleanup items, such as garbage bins, cones, and fencing, visible when the school year begins.

Thanks to our community, these improvements are the result of 2020’s Measure T bond. For more: https://www.mvwsd.org/construction

Thank you for your patience with construction as we work to upgrade the campus for our entire community.
