Today, we had Richard Su stop by to talk about his experiences as a software engineer at Google, and the work he put in during his college years and previous work experience in healthcare that led him to get into software development in Google. While having not experienced major challenges, he discussed about his and his colleagues remained positive even during the current global pandemic.

Su graduated with degrees in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Music from the University of Iowa in 2017. He previously worked on the Daydream virtual reality (VR) headset and also worked at a startup based on patient data and healthcare. He currently is on the Google Maps team hoping to improve the experience and navigation of places for iOS users all around the world to get to their destination.

Our first of many Networking workshop events! Learn about the importance of making connections with friends, classmates and during events, and what-to-do and what-not-to-do’s of understanding and defining what you want to do for your future career goals. These are the basic during networking events, virtual and in-person info sessions, and eventually in job interviews.

Develop communication skills, (lots of) rejection and acceptance with room for improvement down the road, and how to polish your resume when the time comes for applying for internships, jobs, or postgraduate education. It’s all about jumping out of your comfort zone. It takes practice, but practice makes perfect!

Our first general info meeting is tomorrow on Thursday, September 17 during dead hour (11:45-12:45 PST) via Zoom. DM us for Zoom link or the Meeting ID number if you have not received an email from us.

Drop in to learn more about what our goals are for this year and meet other members as well as our e-board! This is a great opportunity to express your ideas for projects in your community and developing solutions using Google Developers products.
