Fifth grade GATE students had their turn to explore downtown Mountain home! Again, we were met with open arms from our local businesses, as well as townspeople that we met along the way! We cannot thank Petite Patisserie and Rio Burrito enough for the yummy cookies and delicious lunch!

Fourth grade GATE students had a great time today in downtown Mountain Home! They started out at Mountain Mystery Escapes, took a stroll around the square where Petite patisserie gave them a free cookie, had a yummy lunch at Rio Burrito, and finished the day with playtime at Hickory Park! Thank you to all of these local businesses for welcoming us, and letting our students see all that downtown Mountain Home has to offer!

Third-grade GATE students learned about the history of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade by reading "Balloons Over Broadway." Inspired by the book, they then took on the engineering challenge of designing and creating their own balloon animal/character floats. This hands-on project offered great opportunities for problem-solving and, despite the challenges, was a success and a ton of fun! (Blue Hall photos to come.)

Earlier this week, third grade GATE students were given the task of building specific items with Keva Planks. They had fun blending their creativity and problem solving skills!

We were just made aware of this opportunity, but wanted to inform all parents and advocates of gifted children. Several of our GT staff have attended professional development provided by both of these women, and we highly recommend attending if you are able. Lisa will speak on many ways gifted students can be helped academically, and Dr. Klepper will speak more on the qualities of gifted children and how to help them succeed and overcome struggles they may have. They will both provide high quality information.
