Did you know that the Skagit Alpine Club maintains the Park Butte Lookout? Every year we host a maintenance party to replace shutters, paint and clean up the lookout. Our next one will be in July!! Keep an eye out for updates and event details 👀

The BMC students are almost half way through their course!! So far they have learned ice axe arrest, top rope belay, rope team travel and lead belay!! We have had such great weather and are looking forward to the rest of course!!

Join us for the Wilderness First Aid course with Backcounty Medical Guides! The course is $300 for SAC members. If you are helping out with the BMC you will receive a 50% reimbursement if you are a leader or safety for one outing or are a basic instructor for at least two outings. Course runs Feb 28th- March 1st at Larrabee State Park.

Skagit Alpine Club recognizes that Black, Indigenous and people of color, LGBTQIA+ and Disabled communities have been historically marginalized in the outdoor community. To work towards our mission fully, we are invested in providing increased opportunities and inclusive spaces for climbers.

To work towards our mission fully, we are invested in providing increased opportunities and inclusive spaces for climbers. As such, this scholarship will prioritize supporting these applicants, and we will continue to support throughout the course and beyond.

One full scholarship is available this year and will be provided to one applicant who completes this form. The scholarship covers the cost of the Basic Mountaineering Course Registration ($575). Participants will be responsible for acquiring all gear on the gear list, but can check in with the [email protected] if there are options for any supplies to be loaned or borrowed from other club members.
