Baby Basics:

The transition to parenthood can be both exhilarating and exhausting. Knowing your options allows you to choose what is best for you and your baby.

I am committed to helping parents navigate postpartum with confidence and joy. I share with parents the following skills:

- How breastfeeding mothers can use a simple technique of hand expression to increase milk production in the first days postpartum.
- How to anticipate their babies needs and meet them quickly
- How to know if your newborn is eating enough
- How to give a cozy bath and massage
- How to get your baby to sleep, and how much sleep your baby needs in a day
- How to comfort and soothe your baby to minimize crying

Overnight Care:

Caring, non-judge mental, professional, postpartum support helps prevent sleep deprivation and postpartum depression. Todays’ hand on parents often find overnight care meets their needs.

- If you are breastfeeding, I will bring your baby to you, see that you are comfortable, answer any questions you may have and help assure that your baby is nursing well
- I will change and settle your baby after feedings
- If you are bottle feeding, I will prepare the bottles, feed and burp your baby as you watch
- I will bath your baby as needed
- I keep a log of the night
- I will do the newborns laundry

The decision to feed your baby or rest during the night is yours. Mothers who have had cesarean sections and need to heal from surgery have found overnight care to be a lifesaver.

The Sleep Police:

The #1 problem families experience today is sleep related, and sleep is the foundation of good health. What you DO NOT know about sleep is keeping YOU YOUR FAMILY AWAKE!

- We are establishing lifelong patterns in our children, which have consequences for almost every aspect of their lives.
- Sleep is as important as nutrition, for babies and parents.
- Newborns need to sleep every hour and a half to two hours.
- Sleep helps babies get a head start on cognitive development and emotional intelligence.

I work with parents to resolve issues from birth through the toddler years, such as:

- establishing a sleep routine
- sleeping through the night
- transitioning from two naps to one
