Putting a few of my late season finds in the cabinet today.

I love the rush of seeing a hint of jewelry in the hole and the research that comes after (is it real, what period is it from, etc..). I believe the research, whether pre-hunt or post, is just as fun as the dig itself.

⛏️✨ Got out for a quick dig this weekend and found a few religious pendants (1940’s - 1950’s) as well as a coat button from the early 1930’s.

✨ Couldn’t believe what 30 minutes produced at a new house! ✨

House was built in the early 1900’s and started giving up great targets right away. I only had 30 minutes over lunch and what was supposed to be a scouting missing, turned into a great recovery mission (as well as two silver rings and a women’s bracket, 1930’s - 40’s.

- Buffalo Nickel is ‘25
- Mercury Dimes are ‘29 & ‘30
- Silver “War” Nickels are both ‘43

✨⚒️A couple of rings from my last few hunts. Some from yards, some from playgrounds. 2 on the right are silver and I love the detail and stone in the 3rd one. All with a story, ⚒️✨

✨⚒️ Unearthed some silver and jewelry at new site this past week ⚒️✨

It’s always a highlight to save some silver but the women’s compact case and bracelets were unexpected.
The bracelets will be going back to the property owner as he’s confident they were his mothers when she was younger and wants to surprise her with them.

✨⚒️ 4 pieces of silver and some relics at schoolhouse hunt ⚒️✨

The school ran from the 1880’s to the 1940’s but most of what I found was from the last three decades of operation.

Silver found consisted of war nickel (‘45), Merc (‘42), Rosie (gave to owner - ‘56), and sterling silver.
Also found were 2 1/2 cent trade token, a dozen wheaties, buffalo nickel (‘27), and a “Winner House” token from a clothing manufacturing Berne, Indiana.

My favorite unexpected find was the American Junior Red Cross pin. The Junior Red Cross was founded in 1917, during World War I, to involve schoolchildren in humanitarian and patriotic work.
Pins like the one pictured were often handed out in schools or youth organizations to children who contributed to wartime efforts from through fundraising, making care packages, writing letters to soldiers, or other community service projects.

Retrieved this amazing 1940’s-1960’ Philips 66 (Petroleum) gas tank lock at a property in Ridgeway, WI this past weekend!
Love old locks, and the original red paint and oxidized brass make the patina on this recovery amazing!

Absolutely stunning 1905 “V” nickel, right out of the ground!

Barry and Gretchen Crooks were kind enough to let me detect their 1908 home (the Malone Schoolhouse) between Mt. Horeb and Mt. Vernon on Saturday which produced this amazing coin. Which NEVER come out of the ground looking like this.

The 1905 V Nickel was designed by U.S. Mint Chief Engraver Charles E. Barber and features Lady Liberty on the front and a bold Roman numeral “V” on the back. It was part of a series so prone to counterfeiting that earlier versions were gold-plated and passed off as $5 coins—until the Mint had to add the word “CENTS” to shut down the scam
