🐖2026 Livestock Judging!🐖
Students have the opportunity starting January 6th to practice for the state 4-H judging contest. All practices will be held at the extension office; no experience required! All materials needed to study each species will be provided.
➡️The junior team will consist of members in 4th-8th grade.
➡️The senior team will have members from 9th to 12th grade.

Cloverleaf DPA!
4th-6th grade students in Colquitt County, this is your opportunity to show off your talents! Students can participate in a performing art (dance, sing, etc.), a cooking competition, or a prepared speech. Topics can be in almost anything...even your favorite TV show.
There will be a parent info meeting on Thursday, February 5th, at the extension office. If you think your student would be interested, contact us via email or phone for more information.

🍀One Georgia is an agricultural education experience that exposes youth to the diversity of agriculture and career opportunities in our state. From rural, to suburban, to urban areas, agriculture may look different around the state however, they all play a major role in Georgia’s largest economic sector. The One Georgia Program is a two-session overnight experience for 4-H’ers in 9th-11th grade. This summer, sessions will be held on the following dates:
June 10-12, 2026 – Vidalia area
June 22-24, 2026 – Griffin area

Cold weather is on the way! ❄️🍂 Here are a few simple tips to help you get ready:

🧥 Layer up – Dress in layers to stay warm and adjust as temperatures change.
🏠 Check your heating – Make sure heaters and fireplaces are working safely and efficiently.
🚗 Prepare your vehicle – Check tires, antifreeze, and keep an emergency kit in your car.
🌱 Protect plants & pipes – Cover outdoor plants and insulate exposed pipes to prevent freezing.
🐾 Don’t forget pets – Bring them indoors or provide warm, dry shelter.

A little preparation now can keep you safe, warm, and stress-free all season long! Stay cozy! ☕❄️

REMINDER -- PEANUT MEETING TOMORROW
The Colquitt County Peanut Production meeting will be held tomorrow Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at the Colquitt County Extension office. The meeting will start at noon. Dr. Monfort, UGA Peanut Agronomist, will give local growers an update on agronomics and Dr. Abney will talk about insect management.
