A huge thank you to all the businesses, friends, and supporters who help keep Rose & me doing what we love — whether that’s as official sponsors or behind-the-scenes support. We couldn’t do it without you. ❤️‍🔥✨

🛢️🛢️🛢️ There’s still plenty of barrel racing left this year — want to come along for the ride?!

🥶Cold Weather Horse Care Tips ❄️

💧 Water, water, water
Horses need constant access to unfrozen, clean water. Dehydration is a major risk in cold weather and can quickly lead to colic. Heated buckets or tank heaters are a game changer. Offering things like warm RepleniMash from Purina Sales Specialist Joel Edge and giving electrolytes from Prime Performance Nutrition will certainly encourage water intake!

🔥 Increase forage, not grain
Hay is a horse’s internal heater. Extra forage helps them maintain body temperature far better than added grain. Make sure hay is available at all times during extreme cold.

🥶 Blanket wisely
Not every horse needs a blanket, but clipped, older, thin, or young horses may benefit greatly. Ensure blankets fit properly and stay dry — a wet blanket can do more harm than good.

🌬️ Provide shelter from wind
A run-in shed or windbreak is crucial. Cold wind strips heat fast, even if temperatures aren’t extreme.

💪🏼 Check body condition often
Horses burn more calories staying warm. Feel under blankets regularly to make sure they aren’t losing weight or getting sores.

🧽 Keep hooves clear and dry
Ice balls and packed snow can cause slips and injuries. Pick hooves daily and watch footing closely.
