Drag Show Update!

We're doing a lot of things a bit different this year, and our latest change is to open up the drag show to more types of performances! It's hard to do drag from home for a lot of us, so we wanted to give everyone an opportunity to contribute something if they are interested.

If you are interested in performing, please sign up! If you haven't decided whether you want to perform, please reply to this post or message a member of MoQSIE Exec as soon as possible so we can answer any questions you have.

The UMN Morris 2020 Drag Show is back!!!

We're holding it online, and have pushed back the date of the show to April 24.

It's Coming Out Week!
MoQSIE will be hosting events every day this week:

Monday: Inter-gererational Coffee Chat, 11am-1pm, MRC Lounge
A conversation over coffee and snacks. Come for as much or as little time as you like

Tuesday: Tabling, 12-2pm, Student Center

Wednesday: Allies & Questioning Panel, 8-9pm, McGinnis Room (Briggs Library)
Have a question about being a good ally or about your own gender or sexuality? Not sure how to ask or if it's rude? Come ask our panel! Questions are 100% anonymous

Thursday: Accessibility in Q***r Spaces, 5-6pm, Cow Palace (Imholte 109)
A guided discussion about accessibility and the intersections of disability with gender and sexuality. Led by UMM graduate Carter Young

Friday: Coming Out Conversations, 5-7pm, Oyate Alumni Room
A place to share our stories and experiences, and to talk about what coming out means. There will also be free food!

Happy first day of classes! This is a friendly reminder that our LGBTQIA2S+ Welcome Reception is today -- Wednesday, August 28, at 5 PM in Louie's Lower Level (lower level of the Student Center).

Drag Show 2019 Sign Up

A few days ago, it was reported that the Trump administration plans to launch a global campaign to end criminalization of homosexuality. At first glance this sounds like an uncharacteristically pro-LGBTQ+ move. Unfortunately, looking any more closely at the plan reveals that it is nothing more than a new strategy to increase economic sanctions and military presence in Iran and the Middle East in general. This is an insulting, and frankly racist, attempt to use LGBTQ+ people to advance the administration's own agenda.

The Trump administration, as well as the campaign preceding it, has a long history of homophobic and transphobic decisions. Pretending to support LGBTQ+ people now is a shameful smokescreen.

Imperialism and colonialism cannot be justified by any circumstance or any reason. We reject their attempt to act in our name.
