Well today is my final east release of my young bird team. They are INCREDIBLE. Next week a couple tosses from due South. Not that they need it but they are bored with 20 air mile tosses from North and East.
They have graduated and ready to be put with the old birds.

Well today took my young birds their first 20 air miles due north for the first time. Beat me home. A time or two more and then switch to east, west and finally south.

So catching this young bird team by hand that’s full of “piss and vinegar” as my Grandma use to say wasn’t as much fun as it use to be.

I can speed load my older birds but couldn’t speed load my YB’s because of smaller Avery and smaller loft.

So I built this stand. First prototype didn’t work out as it blocked the exit door. Door opens inward. Duh! 😆

So had to add a side entry door to my training crate.

Works great. Work smarter not harder as they say.

For the record I’m flying them in the early morning hours when it’s a little cooler and less humid.

They actually flew for 49 minutes this morning so maybe able to hold off till next week to start road tossing. It’s hard to road toss them to get 50 minutes of flying time. Even at 20 air miles when it takes me 45 minutes of driving time to get them out 20 air miles.

Highland doves had the privilege of providing a dove release for a really good friend who passed recently and the family loved it. All home safe and sound.

I have kind of figured it out. This is day 117 since I started implementing the steps to produce this young bird team of 2026.
We still have months for the final results.
