Sometimes people ask me how my life came to involve so much time adventuring outside and doing work that I really love.
The answer is multi-faceted:
Some helpful factors were outside my control. I have a lot of privilege as a white woman and a safety net coming from a middle class family. I’m able-bodied and healthy. I also had a lot of luck in finding a husband who shares my love of the outdoors and can carry many of our financial burdens.
And some of it I had a big part in creating. I had a clear vision for what I wanted. I made choices that supported my desires even when it meant difficult conversations, uncertainty, embarrassment, or failure. Most of all, I gave myself space to be a beginner. To be the weakest, most scared, or least knowledgeable person in the room.
But with consistency, I grew out of the beginner phase and built a strong foundation for my life out of things I truly like and enjoy.
Life design is often many of these things…luck, opportunity, clarity, intention, a crap ton of trial & error…It is focusing on your strengths, finding solutions to fair or unfair barriers, and not being afraid to speak up for what you want.
and and I started Outwild to bring together any folks interested in designing their life to be more energizing. People who want to get outside more (however that looks!) and start making choices that bring them more joy.
If this sounds like you (or someone you know), then you should check out the two awesome experiences we have coming up this summer. Tickets go on sale in one week on Monday, May 16th at 9am PST and more info is at the link in my bio ♥️
