On this episode of Common Ground, NPS Superintendent Dr. Nick Migliorino sits down with MPS Superintendent Dr. Robert Romines and Superintendent of Mid-Del Public Schools Dr. Rick Cobb for a candid conversation about the state of public education in Oklahoma.

They cover what’s going right in public schools, how educators' jobs have changed, the growing political rhetoric surrounding education, Oklahoma’s teacher pipeline, and the increasing expectations placed on schools and teachers.

Dr. Romines and Dr. Cobb also share what they believe policymakers and the public need to understand about public education, as well as why Oklahomans should continue to believe in their public schools.

DID YOU KNOW? National Hispanic Heritage Month is Sept. 15 - Oct. 15. It is time set aside to recognize the achievements and contributions of Hispanic and Latin Americans who have moved America forward and inspired success in others.

Beginning in 1968, Hispanic Heritage Month was originally observed as “Hispanic Heritage Week” under President Lyndon Johnson, but it was later extended to a month during President Ronald Reagan’s term in 1988.

This week of reading Agriculture books takes place across the state and typically falls near the annual National Read a Book Day on Sept. 6.

So, what's an "Accurate Ag Book?" It's a book where the animals don't talk, but behave normally.

Way to go, Cubs! Central Elementary announced the launch of its new logo to staff and students today! After decades with the old mark, Principal RaDonna Robbins, her team, and MPS Communications partnered with Kent Johnson, owner of Massive Graphics in Norman, for design ideas and the final design and mark.

RaDonna said, "A logo is much more than a graphic. It is a symbol of who we are, what we believe, and where we are headed."

Did you hear that ROAR?! That was the Moore High School Lions taking the win for the Battle of the Big Cats AND taking the title of 2026 City Champions! Congratulations, gentlemen, and also to the hard work of the Lions coaching staff and trainers as well!
🏈🏆🎉

The Pride of Southmoore and the Pride of Moore marching bands met together on the field to play the National Anthem, and the crowd got to see the SHS band's performance at halftime. Fans also got to see the fantastic work of both schools' Cheer and Pom team performances.

The evening was outstanding for all the fans thanks to the MPS Safety & Security team and its partners, the Moore Police Department, the Moore Fire Department, and local EMS personnel.

Today marks the 25th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon, and United Airlines Flight 93, which crashed in suburban Pennsylvania. Patriot Day serves as a remembrance of the lives lost on that September morning.

By a joint resolution approved on Dec. 18, 2001 (Public Law 107-89), September 11 is designated as "Patriot Day," which also directs that the American Flag be lowered to half-staff for the entire day.
