Staff Sergeant John Norris of the United States Air force joined STARBASE Advanced program as a STEAM Coach. SSgt Norris used his knowledge as a physicist to encourage students at Brewbaker Middle School to explore dimensions. He facilitated an activity to help students create and visualize the components of 3 dimensional objects

STARBASE Maxwell Advanced Students Explore STEAM in Action at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama. Students from Brewbaker Middle School recently embarked on an unforgettable journey with the STARBASE Maxwell Advanced program to Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (HMMA) in Montgomery. This exclusive field trip gave students a behind-the-scenes look at one of the most advanced automotive production facilities in the
country—and STEAM was front and center every step of the way.

Ben Kruggel former STARBASE instructor and STARBASE Advanced Coordinator, has been mentoring Eclectic Middle School. Mr. Kruggel a retired Aeronautical Engineer for the United States Airforce has used his extensive experience in aeronautics to help students understand complex subjects like Bernoulli’s Principle, Forces of Motion and Electromagnetism.

STEAM Coach and Director of STARBASE Maxwell Ted Welch brings our very own robot “Astro” to Maxwell Elementary Middle School to observe robotics in motion. Astro, a programmable, four-legged robot is loved by all students and although it holds the presence of a small pet, it is a machine that holds a plethora of possibilities through coding and programming.
