I just learned the tragic news that Gabe Hieb died on December 11th. Our family no longer lives in California and we are all gutted by this news.

This Friday we need some skaters to come demonstrate their stuff. 11am-1pm at the Creekside Community Park in Monte Rio.

I want to give Jim Leddy a shout out and a sincere thank you for all of his efforts on behalf of Monte Rio and for making sure the old Monte Rio School doesn't just fall down and become a derelict building/safety & fire hazard. For those of us (now middle aged) who went there - it's wonderful to know that the site is going to be a place where kids can play and the community can enjoy. Winners never Quit, and Quitters never Win!

Ribbon-cutting for Creekside Park in Monte Rio. An abandoned elementary school on Main Street in the heart of Monte Rio will be transformed into a community-focused destination where residents and visitors can enjoy a café, hiking trail, a skate park and a community farm. This beautiful, interactive and educational project is the culmination of several years of advocacy by community residents to remove blight while providing River area children, residents, and visitors with a unique opportunity to enjoy the creeks and open space in the heart of Monte Rio. This is a great example of leveraging public dollars with private partnerships to bring a wonderful community asset forward using all available funding sources!
