Starting in fall 2026, Smith College in Northampton announced it will offer tuition-free enrollment to families earning up to $150,000 a year.

PSA:

The College Board recently (over the summer) changed their policy on acceptable external calculators. It’s worth reviewing the posted list of prohibited calculators before your student shows up on test day. Some students are finding that the calculators they were allowed to use during prior sittings are no longer acceptable as they walk in the door on test day, so please read carefully.

Try to go if you are in Fairfield or New Haven Counties and you can. It’s a completely free event. They have at least 175 schools attending this year.

If you’re not in this section of Connecticut, still check out the website. These college fairs run in many states and are a great resource for college bound students and their families.

What to know about Connecticut's expanded student loan reimbursement program The Student Loan Reimbursement Program will officially reopen for applications on August 15.

The Common App opened on Friday, August 1st.

Whether your student is nearly done with their main essay and optional writing pieces or is just starting, the supplemental essays and school-specific applications are now in play too.

If you need guidance on any of these elements, are still deciding where to apply, and/or need help determining some of what to expect, including costs, now is a good time to talk.

We are also scheduling now for fall tutoring sessions from reading, writing, and math fundamentals through AP and university courses. Our tutors are ready to help 2025-2026 be your student’s year to excel.

USA Tutors & College Prep. Services is about to launch our Summer Mini Sessions. We are enrolling now for personalized tutoring and college prep. services including SAT/ACT lessons.

Summer Mini Sessions are group workshops that meet for eight hours on average to help students prepare to successfully enter a high school or college core class. The instructor reviews foundational material from prior classes; introduces key terminology, equations, and other key information for the course; and they cover some of the topics where students most struggle in the first quarters/semester. They are a way to start the year on a strong note.

We will be running Mini Sessions for Language Arts, Science, and Math classes on high school and college levels.

Because they’re run as groups, the hourly rate is lower than regular tutoring.

We are also enrolling now for personalized SAT and ACT prep., college prep. services from identifying the right schools to essay and application assistance; private tutoring for reading, writing, and math foundational skills; and summer math packets.
