Parents and Students,
Please be alert to this very important information and our Monday and Tuesday adjustments.
Thank you,
Walter Cazalas
As you may be aware Mobile Police Department Officer Justin Billa was killed in the line of duty earlier this week. We have been informed that the services for Officer Billa will be hosted on the campus of Cottage Hill Baptist Church on Tuesday, February 27th. City officials expect several thousand visitors to be on campus for the services, which will greatly hinder our ability to conduct a regular school day. In order to accommodate the large turnout expected by the family and the Mobile Police Department, and to insure the security of our students and facilities we have decided that the Church Campus will be closed for school on Tuesday, February 27th. However, the high school campus will remain in session.
We understand this may create a hardship for some; therefore, workers will be on campus to provide childcare at no cost for a limited number of students. We ask that our families make every effort to find other arrangements in order to reserve these spots for those with true hardship cases. Please email Robin Martin at [email protected] by Sunday at 5:00 p.m. to make a reservation.
Due to the nature of the services on Tuesday and the volume of people on campus, holiday childcare services will be limited in function. All EEC students and those with a childcare reservation will need to arrive on campus by 7:30 a.m. No cafeteria services will be available, so students will need to bring lunch, snacks, and drinks. Playgrounds, the gym, and outdoor spaces will NOT be open for use. Campus will be very congested all day due to visitors and road closures to accommodate the processional. Parents will be asked NOT to come to campus to pick up children until after 1:30 p.m.
Visitation will occur on Monday, February 26th beginning at 5:00 p.m. When picking up your student(s) from Extended Care and EEC please allow extra time due to the quantity of visitors expected on campus. Please park behind the building (Thigpen parking lot) instead of blocking drop off lanes in order to allow visitors easy access to the facility. All Extended Care and EEC Classes will be in their classrooms (not on playgrounds or buggy rides) beginning at 4:30 p.m. All extra-curricular activities which are physically held on the Church Campus will be canceled for Monday afternoon.
Thank you for your understanding. Our efforts will be a blessing to the Billa family and a real way to be the hands and feet of Christ to the community. Please join the CHCA family in praying for Officer Billa’s wife, infant son and loved ones during this difficult time.
Reminder: The Conservatory is closed February 12th-16th for Winter Break unless your teacher has contacted you for a special session.
Mr.Cazalas' lessons are cancelled today, Friday, 1-19-18, due to his being ill. All missed classes will have a make up time. Thank you for your understanding.
There are no regularly scheduled classes on Martin Luther King Day.
Classes resume Wednesday, January 3rd, 2018. We are looking forward to an exciting new season of music. HAPPY NEW YEAR!
We are winding down for Christmas Break but there are regular lessons this week.
As we take time off for Thanksgiving, may we use some of that time each day to express our gratitude for God's goodness.
