Ron is teaching me how to use his 2x great grandma Boone's sewing machine. It is non electric and is from the 1920s. Nancy Boone was a direct descendent of Daniel Boone's brother Israel. When Israel Boone died, his children were sent to live with their uncle Daniel Boone who raised them. Nancy told tales of crossing over rivers in covered, horse drawn wagons when she was little. She was born in 1889 and died in 1978. She insisted on having no plumbing or electric until the 1950s. Nancy had no sons, only daughters. Because of that the last name of Boone died out or else I'd have it now. This means that Daniel Boone is a great greattttt uncle to my husband. The house that he died in is only an hour from us.

I am a very stubborn hand sewer. I only like to hand sew. I am trying my best to learn how to use it but it is hard. Getting it started with your feet and keeping the rhythm is difficult as I notoriously have zero rhythm. Practice makes perfect! I will persevere. Ron is a pro on it. He has been sewing on it since he was a little boy. Honestly, I might just be a hand sewer forever...
