Last Saturday was a day I’d been holding onto for 5 years—wondering if I’d ever be able to push my body like this again. I am beyond grateful for what my body still allows me to do. This journey has taught me that I can still accomplish goals with the right training (built around my needs), proper fueling, and most importantly, learning to listen to my body. 💛

We’re excited to welcome Clint as our new Accountability Coach!

Clint brings a wealth of experience and a unique perspective shaped by his athletic journey. He’s an avid thru-hiker (a Triple Triple Crowner), ultramarathon finisher, and powerlifter who’s recently focused on running, jiu jitsu, and improving his own nutrition and performance.

As our Accountability Coach, Clint won’t be writing training or nutrition plans — instead, he’ll be here to support you through check-ins, progress reflections, and real conversations about what’s working (and what’s not). He’s here to provide encouragement, perspective, and accountability along the way.

We’re thrilled to have Clint on the Ibex team and to give our athletes another layer of support,
accountability, and motivation on their journey.

After my surgery, getting back into running wasn’t as simple as stepping outside and picking up where I left off.
The treadmill became a game-changer for my comeback—and it’s something I still use year-round.

Here’s why 👇
🏃‍♂️ Controlled environment – No uneven terrain, ice, or heat to worry about. You can focus purely on form and effort.
📏 Pacing consistency – Keeps you honest on easy runs and prevents you from pushing too hard too soon.
🧠 Confidence builder – You can stop, slow down, or adjust instantly—perfect when you’re rebuilding strength or trust in your body.
❄️ Winter tool – When the sidewalks are icy or temps drop too low, the treadmill keeps you consistent and safe.
☀️ Summer advantage – It’s great for heat adaptation or avoiding peak heat during the day. You can control the environment and still get the work in.
Whether you’re coming back from injury, surgery, or just trying to stay consistent through the seasons, the treadmill can be one of the smartest tools in your training.

Try this:
✅ Use it for your easy/recovery runs
✅ Focus on cadence and smooth form
✅ Gradually increase incline or speed as your body adapts
✅ Mix treadmill and outdoor runs for variety and balance

It’s not about “just running indoors.” It’s about training smarter year-round.

Food isn’t the enemy—it’s the foundation of health + performance.

Yes, fat loss requires a calorie deficit. But here’s the catch: going too extreme works against you.
⚡ Energy crashes
⚖️ Hormone imbalances
🦴 Higher risk of injury
💥 Slower recovery

If your goal is performance (like training for a marathon, building strength, or chasing PRs), now isn’t the time for a calorie deficit—your body needs full fuel to train and recover.

If your goal is fat loss, a moderate, sustainable deficit works best. Going slow allows you to:
✅ Lose fat without losing muscle
✅ Keep energy high for workouts
✅ Support hormones + long-term recovery

👉 Remember: food = fuel. When you fuel well, you perform better, recover faster, and set yourself up for lasting results.

✨ The takeaway: Extreme underfueling backfires. Smart fueling moves you forward.

If you’re not sure how to fuel for your specific goals, send me a DM with the word FUEL and I’ll help you get started.
