School City of Mishawaka School Board represents the students, staff and families of our great community. I am one of 5 candidates on the ballot.

I will share my personal views, ideas and logic on why I want to be part of the SCM School Board. I am a Mishawaka girl! I started out at Mary Phillips Elementary during my 2nd grade year, continued to grow through John Young and finished up by graduating Mishawaka High in 1996. I will always be a Falcon, Viking (pre-Jaguar, yes- I'm that old) and forever a Caveman! I stayed in this wonderful comm

It's official. I am overwhelmed with gratitude that 3500 School City of Mishawaka voters put their trust in me. Thank you just doesn't seem like enough. I'm usually full of words and at this moment I can't put any of them together. I tried something big on my own, but it was all the love and support from this amazing community that put me right there. ❤❤❤

On the eve of Election Day 2020, I personally would like to give thanks to all those that have supported my run for school board. Grateful is an understatement. The outpouring, the conversations, the different viewpoints and ideas I have come across in these last few weeks have been enlightening. Our community is like so many others across our state and our nation, but I feel there is a sense of loyalty, compassion, unity and love that strongly keeps us bound to Mishawaka. The sentiment of commitment to our children, our teachers and our city is unsurpassed and I am so proud to be a part of the Mishawaka family.
If you have not cast your vote yet, I would appreciate your consideration. With 5 candidates on the ballot, I understand that it may be difficult to choose. Though we are all different people from different walks of life, we all are in this to better the future of Mishawaka Schools. The qualities I posses that best exemplify why I should be a contender are: my ability to use my best judgement even under pressure, my openness to listen as much as I am heard, my willingness to continually learn and improve, and my determination to proactively work towards the best solutions for all. My motives are simple, this is all for my children, my friends, and my community. No hidden agendas, just your average parent stepping up and getting involved. Win or lose, I will still be involved and continue to support and advocate for the families of Mishawaka.
Get out and vote, your community and your nation need you! Make your voice heard and thank you for letting me be a part of the conversation.

School Board Candidate Panel - 2020 10/30/2020

We are in the last few days before polls officially open on November 3rd. If you haven't had a chance yet, check out this Candidate Panel that the MHS Government Class put together this week. This was such a great experience for these students, giving them to a chance to ask what matters most to them. It was my pleasure to join in the conversation and answer their questions.
Remember, you have two votes for school board.

Such a wonderful opportunity this afternoon to join the Mishawaka School Board Candidate Panel! Students led this initiative under the direction of Mrs. Yoder. I felt that this was such a positive experience for our students and enjoyed being a part of the school board conversation. Here is a video from the Mishawaka Network. I appreciate the time and the effort that this group put into this project and the ability to share my thoughts on our fabulous schools in Mishawaka!

Please Stop Expecting Normal From Kids (and Teachers) Right Now 10/23/2020

YES! Shared from a teacher and this is exactly what needs to be heard! We can't expect "normal" in unrealistic circumstances. Our children and their teachers can not navigate as "normal" when this is so very far from an ordinary school year. We need to meet them all where they are, reassure them that it's okay and work towards the goal of all getting back on track together.

Please Stop Expecting Normal From Kids (and Teachers) Right Now Because there's nothing normal about teaching and learning in 2020.

Amy Foley - 10-14-20 School Board Meeting 10/22/2020

It has been 1 week since this speech was given at the last SCM School Board meeting by MEA President Amy Foley. In one week 314K views. While our teachers prepare to finish off Parent Teacher conferences today and enjoy a few well deserved days off for Fall Break, take the time to listen and share her words. Ask yourself, how can we do better for our school community? How do we support our teachers and staff? How do we do encourage our students to persevere through situations we have never navigated ourselves? How do we stay calm and reassure them all?
Again, I don't have all the answers, but I am willing to be the listener. Sometimes that is the best we can offer along with simple suggestions and unrelenting support. I have heard this loud and clear from our faculty and our children. Our help is needed, our support is wanted and, above all, let them know that their concerns have been heard!

Reminder to all voters- If you vote straight ballot, make sure you check your ballot and vote for your Mishawaka School Board candidates. There is more to consider in other races on your ballot and you may miss them if you vote straight party. School Board is non-partisan and it won't count.

School Board Meeting: Wednesday October 14th 2020 10/15/2020

If you did not have a chance to watch the Mishawaka School Board meeting last night, please just go to the link and watch the first speaker. Amy Foley, SCM teacher and Mishawaka Education Association President, delivered a powerful message from the perspective of a teacher about how our current situation is wearing on our staff and our students to the point of exhaustion. We need to do something. We need to do better. We need to work together. I heard it loud and clear and I hope that you did too.
