Public Citizen and EJC are teaming up to host a cleanup on the east end of Lady Bird Lake!
We will learn about plastic pollution and kayak on the lake to pick up trash 🛶
Equipment will be provided! Transportation will be coordinated so be sure to reach out to the EJC Co-lead Julissa if you have any questions. RSVP will be located in the bio🌳🌊

Our upcoming cocoa chat has dropped 🔥!! We will be discussing the burdens of climate change through a feminist lens. We had a GREAT cocoa chat last month discussing the exploitative nature of sweatshops ☕️🧵

It was a space to learn, ask questions, and think more critically about where our clothes come from. Thanks to everyone who came and shared their thoughts.

The EJC’s FIRST Cocoa Chat of the semester is almost here!! ☕️🍫 Our theme next Wednesday is “Beneath the Seams: The Exploitative Nature of Sweatshops.”

We’ll be discussing how fast fashion relies on labor exploitation, unsafe working conditions, and systems that prioritize profit over people. 🧵⚠️

Today marks Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. His legacy and vision of fairness and equality is far from realized. In a time where dehumanization is rampant, it is important to remember an injustice to one is an injustice to all.

Dr. King’s legacy serves as a reminder of what can be achieved with community and mobilization.

Happy Thanksgiving!

While enjoying time with friends and family on this day of celebration, it is important to acknowledge the true meaning of this holiday that is often ignored in favor of a more peaceful and digestible narrative.

This holiday has come to represent a day for showing gratitude and appreciating family, but it is important that we don’t forget the context in which it was originally created!

Julissa and Katie recently had the opportunity to present at the 2025 AASHE Conference in Minneapolis for Sustainability in Higher Education!!

Their presentation was in one of the largest rooms with around 80 attendees. They each discussed their stories as students and how anti-DEI legislation has impacted their time in college. Following their stories, they led a group discussion where representatives from universities across the nation shared out their experiences with the changing rhetoric around sustainability.

The EJC is grateful for the opportunity to represent our voices at the national conference and to facilitate such a productive exchange of ideas!

The EJC believes that exposure to the intersection of environmental and social justice topics, as well as the inclusion of Black, Indigenous, and other People of Color, is crucial. To promote environmental equity across disciplines, our curriculum leads have compiled a list of upcoming courses that emphasize social justice across interdisciplinary fields such as geography, history, sustainability studies, and more. Whether you are taking lower or upper division classes next semester, you will find unique perspectives to learn from and apply to your advocacy.
