New Resource: Play Alongs, Barbara Barber Solos for Young Violinists Vol 1 🎻
Even though there are plenty of recordings out there for educational aids, I've been recording these for my students to play along with and including the accompanying scales. The videos can be slowed down so that students learning the pieces are able to play at a comfortable tempo.

Elementary and middle schoolers are still learning what self discipline is, of course they don't want to practice! You aren't the bad guy for making them follow through on their obligations, you are helping them achieve their goals. 🎻🎵🫶

Nothing like a strengths-based affirmation in a violin lesson. Tbh putting Bach in Suzuki bk 1 is diabolical but my point remains

1. Musicards dot net for online theory and note reading flashcards
2. I made a lil playlist on YouTube for beginner technique things
3. Cheap instruments can be found secondhand on eBay and shopgoodwill dot com. Look for "Eastman" and good pictures, and assume they will need to be brought into a repair shop.
4. Some local youth symphonies like have financial aid programs that extend to helping pay for private lessons or in rare cases, an instrument
Practice motivation trick: change your clothes. A quick little dopamine boost can sometimes be just the thing to get your brain to shift gears with a little more ease.
