The yak is the national animal for the Tibetan people. Residing in altitudes reaching 23,000 ft above sea level the yak represents the Tibetan spirit of being a people of ruggedness, strength, endurance and perseverence.
Draped over the yak is a โkhataโ, a Tibetan traditional ceremonial scarf used in many ways. Most often it is offered as gestures of good will or greeting as well as offered during weddings and other Tibetan ceremonies.
