IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT!
As part of a longstanding relationship with the University of Minnesota, Pathways is beginning a new chapter of support with the U’s Center for Global Health and Social Responsibility (CGHSR). Support from Pathways to Children will build on CGHSR’s work of critical global health education programs for graduate students and community learners. Pathways donors and supporters are invited to participate in CGHSR education programs. Learn all about it at pathwaystochildren.org

New pictures from Belessa, Ethiopia of the two school classroom additions completed in 2022.

Two new classrooms are nearly completed as additions to the school Pathways built in Belessa, specifically for the purpose of educating more girls in Ethiopia. The construction began in April 2021, which progressed slowly due to political upheaval. Gender-based violence, early marriage, and teenage pregnancy greatly affect girls’ and women’s access to education in Ethiopia. Offering basic education is a proven, effective way of providing girls with power, autonomy and independence to make positive choices over their lives, their families and their community.

The pictures are the most recent picture, a prior construction in progress with local teacher and students and celebration reception at dedication for the original school. We anticipate offering a donor and volunteer trip to dedicate the classroom additions when it is safe to travel to Belessa. We welcome donations to finish the school and for school supplies. Grace Strangis, Founder and Executive Director of Pathways to Children, was recognized last week by the University of Minnesota for helping School of Public Health Students gain international experience. Two new classrooms are being added to the school Pathways built in Belessa specifically for the purpose of educating more girls in Ethiopia. The construction, funded by Pathways, began in April 2021 and is slowly progressing due to political upheaval. The classrooms are expected to be completed in time for the beginning of the upcoming school year which starts mid September.

Pathways makes news for supporting U of M School of Public Health!
Pathways funds U of M public health graduates each year to travel to India to work and enrich their education at Jan Seva, the Pathways funded school in Kolkata, India. This year students returned home shortly before the COVID-19 pandemic exploded. What they found there underscores the importance of public health efforts, and how hard this pandemic will hit the poorest in the world. Pictures are from the recent dedication of Zemene's school in Ethiopia. Now 325 children have the opportunity to receive an education. Villagers were eager to show their gratitude, including giving Grace Strangis, Pathways Executive Director, a prized goat.
