Aribert Munzner Studio Fire Recovery organized by Tamara Munzner 06/09/2020

Aribert Update:
With support from a number of friends Ari has been able to "evacuate" his studio at Ivy Arts over the past week. While we still do not know the status of the Ivy Arts Building it is obvious that his studio was one of the most impacted by the fire and water damage.

His daughter, Tamara Munzner, has set up a GoFundMe page to help offset the cost of recovering works, "temporary storage, moving, and setting up a new studio space". You can read more about the events and support Ari by visiting

You can also learn more about Ari, his work, and his history, including fifty years at MCAD, @ .

I am hoping that we might all be able to give back to Ari in some small way for everything he has done for us. He needs to be back in his studio!

Hope you are all well and Staying Safe!

Brad

A 90-year-old Minneapolis artist lost it all in a protest fire — he’s ready to start over 06/06/2020

MCAD Emeritus Professor Aribert Munzner (FA) had his studio heavily damaged in the fire at Ivy Arts this past week. If you ever had the chance to visit one of Ari's studios you would have seen works that spanned decades and a connection to a broader history. Everything this article talks about is true of Ari and his long experience and deft knowledge. Although I never had Ari as a professor at MCAD I was honored to teach alongside him for many years.

I thought you all might find this article inspiring....

Best, Brad

Thinking of our friends at Vine Art Center and their support of our MCAD Sculpture show there two years ago. Latest word is that the fire at the Ivy Arts Building was started by debris from the Hexagon bar. Nonetheless still sad...
