Human Factors Safety Laboratory (HFSL) at the University of Minnesota.

The HumanFIRST (Human Factors Interdisciplinary Research in Simulation and Transportation) Laboratory employs the tools and methods of psychology and human factors engineering to improve scientific understanding of driver performance and cognitive functions. The HumanFIRST Laboratory is a facility of the University of Minnesota's Department of Mechanical Engineering. It is also affiliated with the Roadway Safety Institute, the Region 5 University Transportation Center.

Researchers are seeking volunteers ages 60-89 to participate in a driving research study. In this study, you will be asked to drive normally for 5 months while using a potential driver coaching smartphone app, meditation coaching app while not driving, both apps, or will be randomly assigned to a control group (no coaching app). Participants will be compensated $400 for 5.5 months of study participation. A subset of participants will receive an additional $100 if selected for a simulation study on the UMN TC campus.
