Target Free Family Concert Saturday Feb 2, 10am and 11:30am. How do our senses work together to experience music? When a composer writes music, how do they respond to their emotions and senses to create something new? Hosted by local improv artist George Keller, this 50-minute concert featuring music by old and new composers will explore the answers to these questions and the creative process with children ages 6–12 and their families. This concert is sure to inspire the composer in all of us!

Music lessons spur emotional and behavioral growth in children, new study says Musical training might help kids focus, control emotions and keep anxiety at bay, according to a new study.

I highly encourage parents of students to go see music performances, especially these geared towards kids. They can be inspired to see the end result of many years of playing. Also, when piano students practice and take lessons individually, they can lose sight of all the other kids on the same journey they're on, so bringing them together is a good reminder to that. Besides, they're fun!
