The Casket Arts complex got a fresh spring makeover just in time for Art-A-Whirl thanks to California Building artist Abigail Barrett ( )

Along with Stray Dog Restaurant & Bar, Central Avenue Liquors and Wooden Ship Brewing Company, these sponsors have once again teamed up with the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District to make the Casket Arts Building's basement Speakeasy the perfect place to pause and liven up your Art-A-Whirl®. Free Trolleys and accessible shuttles will run during Art-A-Whirl hours. A loop through the Northeast Minneapolis Arts District takes roughly 30 minutes, with a trolley visiting a stop every 5-10 minutes. Six (6) Trolleys & shuttles will run on Friday and Sunday, with eight ( 8 ) operating on Saturday.

Art-a-Whirl® activity alert: A Chance for Adults to try Intuitive Watercolor Painting with Donna Webb - Carriage House, Studio 302 ( )

Friday- 6-8PM, Sat.- 2-5PM, and Sunday- 2-4PM

Donna Webb is an artist with work in the permanent collection of the Walker Art Center, the Plains Art Museum, and various private collections. She earned her Master's Degree mixing Fine Arts with Art Therapy Methods.

SuperCharged Printmakers Pantone Pantsuit Juried Exhibition during Art-A-Whirl®

Our studio is open all Art-A-Whirl hours and studio members are representing their artworks. The Pantone Pantsuit Exhibition is also on view.
Please join us for a Bra Printing Hands on Demonstration 1:00-3:00 Saturday, May 17. All folks all ages are welcome to participate and it’s free with take away art. The screens are already and we have aprons. Come and have fun creating.

Genie Castro’s artwork has hung alongside artists Andy Warhol, Damien Hirst, Frank Stella, Robert Longo and Donald Sultan and the Collection at the Chelsea Tahari Showroom in New York’s Art District. Her art is featured in the homes of private collectors and corporate collections. She works as a curator & gallery owner. Castro’s great thrill is to donate her artwork to the Auction at Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) for the scholarship program at the college.

Castro took the lead as director and owner of SuperCharged Printmakers studio in the Casket Arts Building in Northeast Minneapolis at the beginning of 2022. It is there she and other printmakers create an inviting space for artists to create freely in the medium of printmaking and have showing opportunities like Art-A-Whirl and events throughout the year.
