Here is the other side of the story of the war against Hamas that much of the western world has forgotten. Please read and share it. A reminder that if Hamas could have ended the war many times over already. Instead, it persists in taking actions that show their total lack of care for human beings, especially Jewish human beings.

FIRST-HAND ACCOUNT OF LIVING IN ISRAEL THIS PAST YEAR: PLEASE READ
Almost one year ago, I made Aliyah and have been living in Israel much of this past year. I celebrated my one-year “Aliyaversary” four days ago. Here is my reflection on how I have experienced this momentous year. Please share it with those in your networks who only get their news on Israel from established media outlets and are interested in hearing a more personal perspective. It was published this morning in the Times of Israel.

While I was in my building’s shelter, my bank sent me an ad, whose subject line was: “Coverage for whatever life has in store.” Guess they weren’t watching the news in Israel when they sent this out. #צהל

Israel is Absorbing Me Faster than I’m Absorbing Israel 09/12/2024

On July 9, my life changed. My wife and I made Aliyah (the term for becoming an Israeli citizen) and have been living in Israel for a very eventfultwo months. We plan to spend the majority of our time in Israel. The Times of Israel published my reflections, which I hope you’ll read. Thank you.

Parashat Miketz: Reframing Loss | My Jewish Learning 12/15/2023

This Shabbat, we read Parshat Miketz. In my D'var Torah for MyJewishLearning.com, I look at how we can reframe loss. Thank you for studying the parsha with me and Shabbat Shalom!

When we lose a loved one, we often find ourselves in a state of grief and confusion. How does someone emerge from this state to find renewed meaning in life?

That’s the question that confronts Joseph, the protagonist in this week’s Torah portion. The Joseph we read about in Parashat Miketz is not the immature, selfish young man we met several chapters ago. He has changed his perspective on life, no longer viewing himself as the center of the universe but instead seeing himself as part of a larger plan. How did he acquire that outlook? And how might we also learn from his example in coping with our own losses?

Elite University Presidents Flunk Human Decency Test 12/13/2023

In my recent blog post for The Times of Israel, I called out the presidents of elite universities:

"The recent responses of the presidents of Columbia University, Harvard, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) before a Congressional Committee Investigating antisemitism on college campuses were sickening. Representative Elise Stefanik asked them if chanting “Jewish genocide” or “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free” on campus is antisemitic and should be condemned. Instead of responding “yes,” they sided with the students’ rights to “express their opinions.” The issue of freedom of speech and ideas on college campuses is admittedly thorny, but questions about the “genocide” of any group are not up for debate."

Elite University Presidents Flunk Human Decency Test 12/10/2023

Please read my latest blog in the Times of Israel- my reaction to the "elite" presidents of Harvard, Penn, and MIT (I mistakenly wrote Columbia, but Columbia is just as anti-Semitic). Basic human decency always trumps intellect, and decency is never "context-dependent." https://lnkd.in/gWhXDUmP hashtag hashtag hashtag hashtag hashtag

I Demand to Know Why…. 11/01/2023

I Demand to Know Why….

Please read my latest article in The Times of Israel. https://blogs.timesofisrael.com/i-demand-to-know-why/

"Jews are unsafe in the United States! I began wearing a kipah publicly about fifty years ago and, for the first time, felt unsafe without wearing a baseball cap to hide it. As a native Philadelphian, I don’t flinch easily, but I worry that my kipah is like a red flag in front of a bull for anti-Israel protestors. Many Jewish institutions and synagogues must increase their already burdensome security budgets and patch vulnerabilities in their physical and digital presence. Jewish university students are right to fear the hatred that is turning from verbal and online assaults to physical violence..." Continue reading by clicking the link below.
