Just a little peek at what my new course is up to this semester at .gd ! This daily by features just one of soon-to-be 26 letters inspired by the marriage of mushrooms and sci-fi!
🎨👀 Here’s a glimpse of what students in ART480: Design Purpose and Practice are up to in their 20-day daily studies! Each student pitched a project they’re passionate about—whether it’s learning a new skill, exploring different styles, or finally taking on that creative challenge they’ve always wanted to try. This helps them explore the value of personal projects—whether it’s filling gaps in their portfolio, further developing their unique voice, or showcasing hybrid skills that complement design. By the end, they’ll each present their journey as a poster or digital reel. Here’s just a taste!

Excited to share this whimsical piece by client Jenna Richardson — —, who is diving deep into a 12-Week Style Intensive Course via .courses ! Jenna is exploring her unique voice through illustration, starting with topical prompts like this take on the Girl Scouts. Right now, it’s all about experimentation, exploration, and trying out a ton of ideas without worrying if they make sense. Jenna is captivated by grainy textures and gradients that convey a surreal, cinematic vibe. We can’t wait to see how her style continues to evolve with each prompt!

🌟 Excited to share a sneak peek of a personal branding project one of my clients / is working on! 🌟
Alexis has been focusing on creating a unique lettermark where each letter of her name nestles organically with the next. It’s a work in progress— with the main challenge being balancing readability with aesthetics. It’s getting there! And has so much possibility to develop into patterns and texture as we begin designing out pieces of the system. This kind of design and letter play is not easy to accomplish, by the way, so props to Alexis! It’s super fun! ✨

Another board game, Freedom Land, created by for her senior capstone course at .gd under my instruction:
“Freedom Land” is a board game exploring the Secret War and the Hmong community’s experiences. The CIA aimed to disrupt communist supply lines between Northern and Southern Vietnam, leading to covert bombings. Despite its unveiling in the 1971 congressional hearing, the Hmong experience remains largely unknown. This game seeks to illuminate these events and promote understanding in an engaging manner. Players are encouraged to approach the narrative with an open mind, while recognizing the profound losses and sacrifices endured.

I’ve got some catching up to do on this account! :) the following board game project —Plantopoly— by .art was created in a graphic design capstone course at .gd under my instruction! From the designer herself: “Since childhood, family game 🎲 nights were a tradition, but Monopoly was always off-limits due to my mom’s competitive nature. Seeking solace, I found sanctuary in caring for 🪴🌱houseplants. From this contrast, Plantopoly emerged—a game merging Monopoly’s tension with the tranquility of nurturing plants. From sharing cuttings to battling stubborn pests, Plantopoly fosters connections and cultivates green thumbs. So, gather your friends, roll the dice, and embark on a journey to greenhouse glory!🥰
