✨ You are not alone. I used to struggle with the same things. I would hook my foot then pop or bounce to get the rest of the body on the pole properly.
But after overcoming a back injury, studying the body’s mechanics, and teaching thousands of students and different body types I developed another way to think about and master the Basic Pole Invert. Here you can learn some of my secrets…
🧡 I discovered that the breath can open up more space, strength, and mobility, allowing us to dive deeper into any move we are attempting. It is very common as a pole dancer to hold our breath when we are moving into an upside-down position. Use your breath to give you more.

Frustrated with your Handspring and wondering how you can just get up there already? There are MANY ways to do a handspring. Including different hand grips, arm placement, and body positioning.
🎉 Here is ONE of a handfuls of ways to get into the Handspring. It is a good place to start as it has your hand in a position of strength to protect your shoulder and uses the momentum of a cartwheel to get your body understanding how to get upside-down.
🎉 Make sure you go thru each of the drills before moving on. This may take a few weeks to get one of the drills so DO NOT feel like you should be in a rush to get to the last drill. This move may take years to gain the muscle engagement to really master this safely.
