LCHS AP Biology students partnered with BRVGS this week. They worked on calculating plant biodiversity by recording species in 5 different locations around LCPS.

On May 18, Harris/King 3rd period ecology traveled to Fairfield Court Elementary School to share their knowledge of ecology. The students created lessons that combined SOL points with hands-on experiences for students from Kindergarten to 5th grade. The youngest students learned about birds and feathers, 2nd -5th grade students learned about tertiary consumers, food webs, and animal adaptations using local preserved specimens of native VA wildlife. What a fantastic learning experience for the Lions and the Eagles!

LC Science students released classroom raised native Brook Trout today! Their new home is the Moorman’s River in Albemarle County. Our students also checked water quality and collected macros to ensure the conditions were just right for our baby Brookies. Give them a few months and then go fishing!
