Joy is one of our three core values at Leadership Center, and sometimes it looks a lot like this.

This past week, our team came together from near and far for a day of connection, laughter, good conversation, and simply enjoying time with one another.

We spend a lot of our days helping teams and leaders build stronger cultures. It was pretty special to make space to do the same for our own.

Well, this headline from Harvard Business Review gave us pause:

“Why Effective Leaders Get Branded as Problems.”

A few takeaways that stuck with us:
▶️ Organizations can mistake friction for failure. Sometimes the leaders creating tension are the ones challenging how things have always been done.

▶️ We tend to focus on the person because their behavior is easier to see than the culture, incentives, expectations, and systems surrounding them.

▶️ When we misdiagnose the problem, we can end up coaching great leaders away from the strengths that made them effective in the first place.
