In this first installment of a three-part series, I explore the historical lineage connected to the family of Grandmaster Shoto Tanemura (Tanemura Tsunehisa), founder of the Genbukan World Ninpo Bugei Federation.

This video examines the historical foundations of a family tradition connected to samurai culture, ninja traditions, and lineages said to extend back through generations of Japanese history—including ties connected to the imperial era of Japan.

But this is not simply a history lesson.

The deeper purpose of this video is to examine how traditional knowledge was preserved through direct transmission from teacher to student across generations.

In old Japan, secret teachings were not understood through books alone. Even if someone possessed the scrolls, without proper guidance from a qualified teacher, the deeper principles often remained hidden.

These traditions were never only about combat.

They were about discipline, perseverance, awareness, structure, character, and understanding how to live correctly during difficult times.
