💫Angela Harris for MTEA Kindergarten Primary Executive Board – Seat C
As educators, we know talk is easy. Real leadership is shown through action.

I’m Angela Harris your next Kindergarten-Primary Seat C executive board member, and I’m proud to say I have a track record of creating real change:
- I helped galvanize the community to hold our former superintendent accountable for fiscal mismanagement.
- I recently worked alongside School Board Director Henry Leonard to help establish a community oversight committee in response to Governor Tony Evers’ organizational audit of MPS.
- I’ve been in the rooms, asking the hard questions, building coalitions, and standing up for students, educators, and our public schools.
I don’t just talk about change—I live it!
And that’s exactly what I’ll bring to the MTEA Executive Board:
Bold, informed, community-driven leadership** that pushes beyond the status quo.

Angela Harris for MTEA Kindergarten Primary Executive Board
Change Starts With Us
👀Vision:
As a dedicated educator and advocate for equity in education, I am committed to strengthening our union by fostering a more democratic, transparent, and member-driven MTEA. Every teacher’s voice should matter, and every leadership position should be contested with engaged, empowered members who want to lead. Together, we can create a union that truly reflects the needs and priorities of our K-3 educators.
🎙 Platform:
🔹 A More Democratic Union – I believe in a union where all members feel encouraged and supported to step into leadership roles. No executive board seat should go uncontested, and we must actively work to build a pipeline of engaged educators ready to lead. By fostering mentorship and open dialogue, we can ensure that MTEA remains strong and representative of all its members.
🔹 Class Size Caps for K-3 – With AGR (Achievement Gap Reduction) no longer mandated, we must push for district-wide policies that maintain reasonable class size limits for our youngest learners. Overcrowded classrooms hinder individualized instruction, social-emotional development, and teacher effectiveness. I will advocate for clear, enforceable caps on K-3 class sizes to ensure high-quality education for all students.
🔹 Paid, Guaranteed Prep Time for K-3 Teachers – Every teacher deserves protected, compensated planning time that is not dependent on specialist classes. Kindergarten and early primary educators need dedicated time for lesson planning, assessments, and collaboration. I will fight for guaranteed prep time that supports both instructional excellence and teacher well-being.
🔹 Stronger Communication & Advocacy for K-3 Educators – K-3 teachers face unique challenges, and we need a direct line of communication to ensure our voices are heard. I will establish consistent check-ins, feedback loops, and advocacy efforts focused on our specific needs, from curriculum concerns to classroom resources and professional development.
It’s time to build a stronger, more democratic MTEA—one where every member is valued, heard, and empowered to lead.
