Congratulations to Dr. Laurieann Klockow, clinical professor of biomedical sciences, College of Health Sciences, for receiving the Rev. John P. Raynor, S.J., Faculty Award for Teaching Excellence!

Klockow was recognized for her sustained commitment to teaching excellence and student success. Over the course of her career, Klockow has taught more than 9,000 students across undergraduate, graduate and professional programs, pairing rigorous scientific instruction with a deeply student-centered approach. Her courses challenge students to think critically and apply complex concepts while also creating structured opportunities for practice, feedback and growth. 

“When I think of the extraordinary teachers who have earned this distinction before me, I feel the full weight of what this honor means,” Klockow said. “Teaching is an act of faith in that you pour your heart and soul into the work whose impact you may never fully see. To have that work recognized not just by students but by colleagues I deeply respect, means more than I can say. I am incredibly grateful to teach Marquette students, work alongside people I genuinely admire and be part of a community that takes its mission seriously.”

This past weekend, the Doctorate of Physical Therapy Class of 2026 received their robes and walked across the stage, ready to put their education to practice in the field. Each on their own path, these students are ready to follow decades of PT alumni before them to change the world and help others along the way. Congratulations graduates!

The Department of Biomedical Sciences held an open house Friday night to celebrate their graduating students and to honor a few select individuals for their academic and research achievements. Congratulations graduates!

Through tough exams, group projects, seemingly endless study sessions and everything in between, you earned your cap and gown and the right to hold that diploma high and proud. Congratulations to the Occupational Therapy Doctoral Class of 2027 on receiving their white coats over the weekend! These students will spend the next six months in the field on their clinical rotations putting their skills into practice and learning the nuances of the field from our valued preceptors. Congratulations to the Masters of Athletic Training Class of 2026! This class of educators, advocates and healers enters the workforce ready to guide athletes through recovery and be by their side during setbacks.

After a life-changing brain tumor diagnosis, Marquette senior Nelson Smith turned one of the most difficult moments of his life into motivation to help others. His journey through recovery inspired his passion for medicine and a commitment to compassionate care as he now works toward becoming an oncologist. 💙💛

Inspired by her own love for science, Marquette senior Raya Broeren is helping spark that same curiosity in Milwaukee Public Schools classrooms through hands-on experiments and interactive learning. Her work is making science more accessible, engaging and exciting for the next generation of students. 💙💛

Congratulations to Savannah Gutsch, a Ph.D. student, a licensed PT and PT teaching assistant, for earning runner-up at the Three Minute Thesis competition at Marquette 👏

Her research emphasizes reducing pain during exercise for older adults and demonstrates a strong commitment to improving quality of life.
