Roosevelt Sanders Roosevelt Sanders is a product of Milwaukee’s public school system and a graduate of Milwaukee Areal Technical College of Milwaukee.
He knows the value of an education; the value of a Milwaukee education. As a Community Leader, he fights hard to instill the dream of college or technical college education within the reach of all our district’s children who wants to work hard for it and take responsibility for their educational goals. Roosevelt Sanders proposed plan includes all of our district’s parents first understand that, th
ese are not terrorists from a foreign land, when we refer to all the gang violence that has begun to run rampant within our communities, on the contrary, these are our sons, daughters, nieces, nephews, cousins, and finally our grandchildren too. A major part of Sanders plan relies heavily on the families within our district to understand that even though we would love to believe our children would not be a part of something as outrageous as a gang, them members come from somewhere and as with most gang orientated organizations, they revolve around the communities they live within; meaning that the gangs primary source of recruits are residents of our very own districts and that makes us as parents primarily responsible for any and all of the destruction within our communities. The educational piece to his plan focuses on Roosevelt Sanders working closely with MPS School board and the schools within our district to devise better strategies for dealing with low test scores, attendance, and 360 degree accountability with the students, teachers, parents, and district leadership. Roosevelt Sanders believes that, Special Education programs are designed to meet the needs of those students who truly need those programs; not to promote the failure of those who won’t even try or those students who are told, “it’s ok, don’t worry about getting the spelling right”; and defiantly not for those students who only problem is they can’t have their way. Roosevelt Sanders further believes, when one is trained to give others instruction it becomes our responsibility to give the very best we have to offer our profession. Educating a nation is a great and wounderus and more importantly a noble one, as well and should be honored as such. This is one of Roosevelt Sanders primary goals as Aldermen, is to help restore those values in our schools and in the teaching profession as well within our district. This Helping Keep Families safe In Seventh District is an exciting and innovative program. However, Roosevelt Sanders’ commitment to making this a safer district for Seventh district’s families goes much further than that. Roosevelt Sanders plans to get to know and coordinate community efforts with every Block Captain within our district as well as advocate to have one appointed to those blocks that don’t already have a captain in place bringing them altogether monthly as to better coordinate his ability to advocate and meet the needs of all the families living within Seventh District. Addressing the real issues and concerns of Seventh District. Sanders also plans to meet with all the Business Owners within the district to hear their issues and concerns on a monthly basis as to bring a commonality between both the residents and the business owners needs; thereby being able to coordinate efforts with the Police Captain of Seventh district, using the letter of the law as the cornerstone, of coordinating efforts to reducing the crime rate within Seventh District and as a byproduct of our joint efforts in making Seventh District a safer place to live. We will achieve a 360 degree line of communication between the community, business owners, police and District leadership, which is a vital tool in ensuring the safety of the entire Seventh District Community as a whole and Sanders believe that establishing as well as for maintaining an open line of communication is the quality any leader should embody in their frame work of serving the community, he also believes it speaks volumes of the character as well as to his ability to meet those needs of the people within their respective districts or even day-to-day dealings with our community as a whole.
