Our mission is to reintroduce chimney swift habitats by constructing functional public art landmarks and to encourage community engagement in urban nature.
Swift Studio promotes housing for the chimney swifts, a native insectivorous birds contributing to environmental quality but threatened by a lack of nesting options. Our collective marries a vision of a community with artistic expression by creating a series of functional art installations, swift nesting towers, to enhance the experience of place and path along the Milwaukee Urban Water trail. Congratulations to Jenny Chelcun, whose chimney swift tower has been selected to be constructed as part of Swift Studios build initiative. Stay tuned as Swift Studios will be constructing this tower in MIAD's sculpture lab in the upcoming weeks!
