Another year, another successful Groundhog Shadow Day! We appreciate the outpouring of support from the US Forest Service, Department of Labor, and all of the participating Job Corps Centers.

The students enjoyed their experience at the US Forest Service, and we look forward to their visit again next year!

Another fantastic photo of all of our visitors during today's Job Shadow Day. It was amazing to see so much drive, passion, and skills in the next generation!

Alumni were super busy this year visiting Job Corps centers to inspire students across the country. Through these personal connections, we've been able to become mentors and motivators to over 1300 students leaders from West Virginia to Oregon.

Here's the reason we think it's so important to pay it forward.

How are you paying it forward?

Pay It Forward is an initiative of the Federally Employed Job Corps Alumni (FEJCA). Through this program, FEJCA outreaches to and motivates Job Corps student...

drives change. Change in student attitude and perception, change in how students handle problems, and a change in how they create solutions.

In changing enough people for the better, eventually you change the world. And so, Pay it Forward is creating an epic legacy.

Curlew Job Corps is about 10 minutes from the Canadian border!

It was a beautiful drive and a great event. The students at this center are awesome.

"Just because you're from a certain environment doesn't mean you have to be a product of that environment." Our interns dropped gems that I couldn't have said better.

We're headed to Job Corps. Stay tuned!

A bonus of working for the USDA Forest Service?

You see some of the most beautiful places in the country. During our Pay It Forward event in Washington State, we made time to visit the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.

One of our interns had never visited a national forest! Now, he's hooked.

Next stop: Curlew Job Corps center.

Two interns have joined FEJCA this summer to connect with students and promote not only completing the Job Corps program, but considering college.

Our first stop: Fort Simcoe Job Corps in Washington State.

BTW, I'd forgotten how delicious Job Corps lunch is!

Is there one book that totally transformed your life?

"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff...and it's all small stuff," has been an instrumental guide in the lives of many members.

To pay those lessons forward, we are sharing copies of that book with current Job Corps students. And, we went above and beyond by sharing a personal message of wisdom and encouragement in each book.

If we've visited your center, expect your copies soon. If you want to schedule our training at your center, let us know! We look forward to hearing from you.

It's intern season at USDA and alumni are welcoming Job Corps students into the workforce. This luncheon introduced interns to the strong Job Corps support system within USDA and provided a network for collaboration.

At the US Forest Service, interns are offered challenging internships that introduce them to and connect them to our land. For urban youth, it is often their first meaningful interaction with natural resources professionals.

This summer, FEJCA is traveling the country visiting Job Corps Centers as part of our Pay it Forward initiative. This two-part project 1) trains Job Corps alum in leadership, public speaking, facilitation, and more; and 2) provides alum the opportunity to use those skills to coordinate leadership training at Job Corps centers.

So far, we've had the pleasure of visiting Delaware Valley, Columbia Basin, Pine Knot, Angell, and Wolf Creek. Potomac Job Corps is up next!

If you want our training at your center, reach out. We'd love to meet you!

Part of FEJCA's mission focuses on offering alumni opportunities to develop and use leadership skills. In May, the USDA branch of FEJCA attended training at Grey Towers - the historical home of first Forest Service leader Gifford Pinchot.

Skills gained will be used to progress our mission as we continue reaching back to pay it forward.

On Friday, May 20, 2016, USDA FEJCA members visited Delaware Valley Job Corps located in Callicoon, New York.

During this visit, the Alumni engaged 200 students in a interactive dialogue regarding FEJCA member's experiences and success in the program.

The goal of the dialogue was to improve student moral, increase student retention, and motivate students to complete the program. The Alumni also gave the students as overview of different Forest Service careers and opportunities.
