It is with a great deal of disappointment that I announce the closing of Country Kids Playschool. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the wonderful families of Juniata County who have been faithful supporters of our program for over 32 years. ✏️ Handwriting is a complex skill, requiring many underlying skills to be developed ✏️

In order to have efficient handwriting a child needs to demonstrate:
• The ability to adequately process sensory stimuli from ALL the sensory systems.
• Strong core muscles in order to maintain upright sitting position
• Eye-hand coordination skills and visual motor integration skills
• Strong hand muscles, functional grasp pattern, and suitable manual control
• Emotional health
• Cognition readiness

What some parents don't know is that one of the major component of handwriting skill is the child ability to imitate, copy, and draw pre-writing strokes and shapes.

These are the strokes and shapes that make up all the uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers, and early drawings.

These storkes develop in a sequential order, and it's important to make sure your child can first imitate, then copy, and eventually independently draw these strokes and shapes, prior to teaching them how to write letters and numbers.
