Tim Lirley for MISD District 3

09/11/2026

Today Midland High pauses to remember and honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001 and the countless of heroes from first responders to regular citizens who courageously stepped in without hesitation to help the day of and weeks after. 25 years have past but we will never forget the courageous pilots and passengers who fought till the end.

Happy first day of school, Midland! 🍎
To every student walking into class today — whether it’s your very first day of kindergarten or your last first day as a senior — welcome back. I hope this year brings you good teachers, solid friendships, and plenty of moments that make you proud.
Parents, hang in there. You’ve already done the hard part getting everyone out the door this morning.
And to the teachers and staff — thank you. You make a bigger difference than you often get credit for.
Wishing every kid in Midland ISD a strong, safe, and successful year. Let’s make it a good one.
